Steps To Building The New You — Part 1 - 1. Recognize that you are now in Christ. You are different than the people that you used to hang with. Paul
said that we should no longer walk like the rest of the Gentiles. Your direction now comes from what you learn in Christ rather
than what they have learned alienated from the life of God (Eph 4:17-20). Where do you get your advice from? Act based on
what you have learned in Christ and not what you learned alienated from the life of God. A new man needs a new mind and manner
of thinking! (Rom 12:2)
- 2. Change your attitude about sin and the good old days ( 2 Pet 2:20-22). In
this chapter Peter warned the church about false teachers who would exploit through their words (verse 3) and cause them to
go back into the world. He characterized their going back into the world to a dog eating its own vomit. Is that how you see
and think of sin? Those old habits were bad for you spiritually, why miss them? Would a person run back into a burning house
after they had been pulled from the fire? Can you imagine seeing a life guard save a drowning person and then seeing that
person go right back into the water as soon as CPR is completed?
- 3. It might be time for a change of
scenery and (or) company. Evil communication corrupts good morals (I Corinthians 15:33). See also Proverbs 1:10-19.
